Tuskegee Calling - September 13th

Guys,
Booker T. Washington’s granddaughter, our Margaret Washington, passed. It was such a pleasure to talk to her and watch the response from the youth who heard her. She will be missed.

Remember the Tuskegee Washington Candy store where anyone could see the candy being made? The smell was great! The city held bids for the old Holiday Inn site on the Interstate. No one showed up to bid. Hummmmmm, IT’S A SHAME…we did not bid on our own future. Damn!!!! Tuskegee’s Coach, Willie Slater, and his Golden Tigers rebounded from a tough loss to Miles last week. The tigers had a 22-15 win over FortValleyState. The game was played at TuskegeeUniversity on Saturday. Clark Atlanta U is coming to town this weekend. Five weeks later it will be Homecoming on November 7th at 1:00 p.m. I’m still getting calls about toxic dump sites in Macon County. Damn sure wasted the land. Below is what one person had to say about the We the People letter: Good letter...pointed but perhaps not pointed enough ...do hope something comes of it...when the people lead, leaders follow...the residents of Tuskegee should seize the town and throw the lot of them out...literally by the seat to their pants… I would love to live in Tuskegee if it were possible ... it is such a beautiful area. The movement to take back our city is gathering steam. Let’s hear what you have to say. DOLLAR STORE, comes in a kit, lots of Spanish construction workers. THE BLOCK, new parking lot, lot of Spanish workers, Lots of work going on in the OAKS.

Tuskegee Calling - 08

WHAT A GOOD DAY!! For some time now, I have been asking for help in getting rid of strawberries (crack whores) in my area on Washington Avenue and on the corners. I had noticed that over 70 percent of the cars that pick these women up are from out of town. Anyway, in my back yard on Wednesday morning last week, there were seven U.S Marshals, agents from the Alabama Bureau of Investigations and the Alabama Department of Agriculture and deputies from the Macon County Sheriff Department. All of these people had gun drawn; two had AK-47 hanging low. All were white. One speaks to me and says they are looking for people. After five minutes, they were looking throughout the Greenwood neighborhood for probationviolator, dopers and drug dealers. The bad guys were running everywhere. (Two strawberries left town, two were arrested and the rest or hiding or running away.) At 11:00 a.m. the agents are back in my yard, still looking for the bad people. I thanked them for all they were doing, but I guess I can’t use the dynamite now. I made tea and brandy cookies for when officers would come back. I think I owe some of you steak and lobster, with wine and a designated driver. Maybe three days of these guys cleaning up this town might really help us. Then our continuous rain can wash the other trash away. On Friday the Marshalls and other agents were throughout the Greenwood neighborhood again. The local residents were back on their front porches. (They make a true neighborhood watch, you know.) Politics in Tuskegee is as ugly as ever. (Maybe a little worse, for the specter of elitism has raised its ugly head. You did see that coming, didn’t you?) After 37 years of black rule, the people are still infected with low self-esteem and self-hatred. What does that say about the leaders? I had a tour from Atlanta on Saturday. On Sunday, there was a bus load of people from Augusta. You guessed it: No gift shops and no restaurants open. I don’t take tourists to fast food places. The message we send to tourists: Welcome to Tuskegee and don’t forget to take your money back home with you…Damn! Damn! Damn! Municipal Court has the same old look: lots of girls with babies, and handcuffed guys pleading poverty as an excuse for not paying child support. There has got to be a better way. What did we do before courts started ordering people to take care of their children? Did you see or hear of the guy with 21 cases of mamas baby drama? This guy should be the poster child for why we should castrate. Historically speaking, during slavery masters bought the big buck, made him “rooster”, and allowed him to have his way with all of the baby factories. But if he became unruly the buck was often sold off. The mentality of creating babies and abandoning both babies and their mothers left a large scar on the psyche of the Negro and his culture. Although this behavior was forced on slaves, it is to often willingly perpetuated by too many of our young men. Hmmmm Master must have a machine for continuing the legacy of “free labor,”
Recently, I received a call from a movie company. Many thanks to citizens, the Park Service and TU for sending them to me. The Spirit of Tuskegee and myths and legends of Tuskegee are to be filmed here? Hmmmm Well, we have the stories!! Guys, if you can make the time, please see the play,The Broker. This brainchild of Dyann Robinson is a factual story about Tuskegee Negro leader, Lewis Adams, Oh, yeah!! No one gets shot, no one steals anything, and no one is hooked on drugs. This is a family play. This is the last week for you to see it.
Volunteers are needed at the Airmen convention Las Vegas. If you are near that city, go volunteer and enjoy!! Take care jimmy

Each day State and local officials are on the phone to Washington crying about help for the flooding here in the south. They want that help at once. They have forgotten about our experience with Katrina, and of course, they did not vote for President Obama. If you are one of these people, CHECK YOURSELF! There are 14 car dealerships closing in Alabama. None of the 14 voted for Obama. If you talk to the first black owners of dealerships in the south, you will hear horrible tales of how they were treated by the automakers, including receiving the wrong parts and flooded, rebuilt vehicles. Now these people feel we should help them. They must CHECK THEMSELVES! Alabama’s foreign carmakers pay up to $27.00 per hour, including benefits. The profits go to Germany, Korea and Japan. Do you think Kia is an American/Alabama company? Alabama sent it sons to war with those country; we are told that we won those wars. Yet, today we are bowing to those countries.
African Americans have remained loyal to America. Even though African Americans were often insulted by our leaders of that time. We had to fight for the right to get killed. Initially, we were the only ethnic group not allowed to fight in those wars because our Government said Negroes could not fly a plane, captain a ship, shoot a gun, and would run if we faced the enemy in battle. Yet the American Negro remained loyal to this country. Why??? I say let Detroit go; Alabama can be the largest carmaker (all foreign) in America. Black people are becoming wiser in how they spend their dollars; to whom they give their money. Yes, there will always be those Africans in America who think all is well, but I suggest that we all become more frugal in our spending. There will be no Social Security or Medicare in a few years. That means all that money we put in will be gone. WELCOME TO AMERICA! Oh yeah: More blacks still going to prison than college; plenty of jobs there. Remember that slavery was about free labor and the south fought a war to preserve their way of life.
For the first time in Tuskegee’s history, fourteen (14) workers for the city of Tuskegee will soon be laid off; with the exception of Police and Fire, other workers will be cut to 32 hours per week. And a few will be cut to 20 hours per week. Didn’t we hire a City Manager to improve the City? Hmmmmm!!
They are looking into new taxes for us: An increased gas tax for those of you that drive, a heavier tax on booze for those who drink and a higher tobacco tax. For those of you who roll your own, a new rolling paper and cigar to blunt tax? Hmmmm
Child Support Court back to normal. Thirty-seven (37) females with baby’s everywhere, and only 7 guys there pleading poor to the judge. WHY??? Most of these youth get pregnant during football season. Now we see the mothers and their babies and no fathers. It is time to break the cycle.
Ps: Our Carlos has been working on this situation, energy, grants, believes in us.
Lots of new members joining the Greenwood VRM, THE MODEL NEGRO COMMUNITY FOR AMERICA, the self MOVEMENT Community!
Can you remember our old TIHS auditoriu? Do remember who performed there? Commodores, Lionel Richie, Tom Joyner, Vic punch Gasden-plays with James Brown band, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Classic singer Bessie Hunter, Pete Peterson, Zeke Moore, need more names??!! Enjoy each day!!

Lots of storms this week, lost some big trees on the yard, trees down all over town. City and state highways were cutoff. Flood waters are high. New boycott - Tuskegee News sponsors. There are rumors of bad comments about black good news stories. Damn! Why do whites want to know the criminal side of our culture? We are not Italian’s who make money telling their criminal stories. The Godfather, The Soprano's, mafia movies and romantic murderers. Our story is like theirs, but we don't own the papers! Even in a black city, freedom of the press only goes who own it. Dr. G W Carver festival this weekend. Move it back to Professor Carver’s museum that was what it was about, held under a confederate statue. Carver came to Tuskegee because on his way ome he passed a Negro being hung by these same kind of people and left his home. He is not pleased about where we hold his festival. If you are one of those blacks that say forget it, let it go. Then maybe you are an African in America and not a black person as your government has labeled you. Happy Mother’s Day to all!
TU graduation on Sunday.
Remember the line of march started at Carnegie, down to the chapel, or on White Hall Lawn hundreds waved and admired the new grads of Tuskegee now it's outside the front door of Chappie James and no one gets to wave. Tuskegee flying! Did you know that the 1st president, R. Moton and the 2nd president, Dr. Patterson planned the Negro V A and the Negro Airmen for Tuskegee and UNCF.
New eatery, T J Dairy Bar, downtown Russell plaza.
New chiropractor office --grand opening on the square, Dr. Russell, Tuskegee grad. TPS science fair was good; we have some real smart youth!! Hope we don't lose this group!! Three tours booked for next 4 weeks, 1 staying in Auburn, no room at the Tuskegee Kellogg center. Comment was made that Tuskegee could grow if it did not have such bad leadership and media always showing the negatives of Tuskegee.
If we get any stimulus package, will it go to those same groups that screwed it up before??
What’s your comment? Front page Tuskegee News - 217 cases disposed of. Is it just me or does anyone wanted to know how we got into this situation. We don't know because there are judges, DA’s, lawyers and bad decisions of the past administration. Some cases buried, some forgotten, some were justice denied, as long as these large settlements civil cased were done. We sold our soul to the devil and now the devil wants his pay. If we had done any of this we would be arrested, thosepeople had going away parties and BBQ’s. Damn!! More people are joining weight loss programs. We might have a chance at better health. The Tuskegee of old is the solution for so many problems. We changed and now we have real problems. Booker T was right and he left a journal, ,, if we only used it!!

Graduation in 10 days, good class. Lots of these students worked with community services. We will miss them, Dr Carver festival next Saturday, flyin, Memorial Day, 99th the first class and the first grad, Gen B O Davis Jr. He listed his home as Tuskegee Institute.

NY air force one fly over- Tuskegee connection …. hushhush
Number 1 in Tennis! We have a local bro coaching, go skegee!!!
State cut school supply's budget, we don't care about children all the way to the state level, but new prisons going up
Courts: Lots of trials, lots of time, people who care about us are doing this, finally getting some of these hardcore thugs and those people who don’t care about anyone’s life and mental cases, out of our community. This community has been abused for years by the court systems and papers were lost. People were targeted for personnel vendettas; making up stuff because you don’t like them was not a crime in Macon County, but you eventually have to pay for it and you can’t pay it in money. It‘s not about the money, the police and firemen who put dogs and firewater hoses on those colored children in Bham got paid back,,,some of their family members changed their names because of disgrace, fear and new beliefs. That’s a pay back that’s forever! So it be said, so it be written! I counted 9 Tour buses, this week, 1 went to bookstore,,, The Railroad Pullman workers fought hard for equality,Tuskegee boy change it on paper,,hummmm Need your help? What is you favorite eating fish, fried or broiled?
New fish market opening and the question was what kind of fish do people like? Thanks for your support.

Woman Given Jail Sentence
by
Admin
on Fri 17 Apr 2009 05:59 PM EDT
A 22-year old woman was sentenced today to 10 days in Bucks County prison for moving her family into an unoccupied home without notifying the owners.
Mrs. James Flood was found guilty of trespassing by Justice of the Peace William Oettinger.
The woman’s four-year-old daughter was turned over to the juvenile authorities. Mrs. Flood’s husband, James has not been apprehended. Oettinger has a warrant out for him on trespassing charges and Justice of the Peace, John Melvin, has warrants on traffic violation charges.
Oettinger said Mrs. Flood, her husband and [their] daughter were living in an empty house at 2302 Fleetwing Drive, Fleetwing Estates, Bristol Township, for the last month.
The property, owned by Colonial Realtors, of Bristol, had no furniture and was not rented by the Floods. Oettinger said the family had apparently moved into the house when an acquaintance moved out. They moved in before the realtors had a chance to lock it, he said.
He said the Floods ignored repeated pleas and warnings to move out. Constable Robert Campbell made the arrest last night, Oettinger said, on complaint of John Raccago, agent for the realty company.
He said Mrs. Flood could give no address of her own.

by

I hope you saw the Ladonna/Darnell wedding on NBC, lots of Tuskegeans in the house!!!
That people is what Tuskegee is about, positive, caring, nurturing, loving people who continue to give, the best education and family life of a race of proud people… This was made possibly by so many of you and your votes. Thanks from Tuskegee.
Houston we have a problem. Hey guys, The opening of the Airmen historic site, Oct. 10th ribbon cutting, rumor has it that the city and county with the highest percentage of democratic voters 87% will have as cutters and guest, Bush-McCain, and Michelle and BarackObama.
All your work and tax dollars will be celebrated by out of Towner’s, a large media force, extra large secret service presence, very large political presence and most Tuskegeans will not get pass the security test, we are going to be used again, so many of you have labored to get this Memorial for these Airmen, including giving up your homes for the runway extensions, only 2 local people employed at the site, very very few items made in Tuskegee in site stores, lots of the construction was local in the first phase, restoration and parking lot, but the new buildings, we were not in there?? We spent 110k in grants to redo square downtown, some with the idea these guest are going to come down, for what??? The Airmen have only given story’s about the hatred from downtown, (1939 to 1947) some never returned to Tuskegee, some went to jail on trumped up charges, Macon County was a dry county and some were chained and put in security off base for alcohol charges that went on their records, some had cars and money taken from them and never returned, some stated that if they could get thru the Tuskegee Flying school, because it was a hard course, 6 out of 10 were washed out, lots of reasons for wash out’s, but most spoke of prejudice, they understood that they had to be 3 times better to be equal to whites, these were the cream of the crop; they wouldremember the hate of Tuskegee forever. As I taped the interviews some would be crying about how they (Officers in the Army Aircorp) were treated by this counntry, even though they were willing to defend and die for America.
Hope you get a seat or catch the ribbon cutting on channel 8, channel 12 has to show murders and shootings first, Tuskegee News will show some drug bust or a dumb shooting in big pictures and The Airmen in a little corner in the back corner of page 6 small letters, that what their editor see’s, it is one way to kill a culture and we will not tell him to stop it, let Tuskegee be the place to show our positive side for the youths self-esteem, oh, I forgot, we don’t care about our children until jail time!!!

Obituary Transcriptions
by
Admin
on Wed 28 Nov 2007 02:11 AM EST
Over the past several months I have busying myself with transcribing Church program obituaries as well as obits found in the local newspaper.
Once the transriptions are completed, I add them to Findagrave.com. I came across this website about some years and have been an active contributor for the past 6 years.
If there is a clear photograph, it's also scanned and included on the page as well. So far, transcriptions have been completed for over 70 obituaries with another 200+ to go. It's doubtful if my contributions were ever catch up to the 200,000 plus added by some members. View my Findagrave.com contributions here.
The next step is to add these transcriptions to the Afrigeneas Death Records Database. Afrigeneas is the preimier African American Genealogy Research website on the internet.

Tuskegee Airmen to be Honored!!!
by
Admin
on Sun 18 Mar 2007 01:53 AM EDT
WASHINGTON - The Tuskegee Airmen weren't supposed to succeed.
A 1925 study by the Army War College titled "The Use of Negro Manpower in War" concluded that African-American "men were cowards and poor technicians and fighters, lacking initiative and resourcefulness." It also called them a "subspecies of the human population."
So the Army Air Corps wasn't expecting much in 1941 when it began training a small group of African-American men to become pilots at Alabama's Tuskegee Institute, a historically black college.
What it got was one of the most successful flying squadrons in American military history. Shattering racist stereotypes, they flew more than 15,000 sorties over North Africa and Europe during World War II, destroyed more than 250 enemy aircraft on the ground and 150 in the air, and fiercely protected the American and Allied bombers they escorted on missions. Historians Question Records of Tuskegee Airmen
by
Admin
on Sun 14 Jan 2007 12:14 PM EST
Two historians are disputing the claim that America’s first Black fighter pilots never lost a bomber to enemy fire during World War II. U.S. Air Force records show that at least a few bombers escorted by the red-tailed fighters of the Tuskegee Airmen were shot down by enemy planes, according to William F. Holton, a historian of Tuskegee Airmen Inc., and Dr. Daniel Haulman, a historian at the Air Force Historical Research Agency. Read more
